Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.
2013, Denver, Colorado, USA. I was downtown on Colfax and Broadway. I just got off the bus and had to get to the corner diagonal from where I got off. I noticed a bald man with sunglasses and wearing a red tang, such as a Buddhist monk would wear. We were walking in the same direction to the same bus. I could help but walk up and start a conversation. I, of course, and a good idea that he was a monk, and that is exactly what I asked him when we started walking together toward the other bus stop. This is when I discovered he was also blind. I saw the bus we had to catch. I said, “There is the bus, we are going to have to run to catch it.” He put his hand out and asked if he could hold on to my arm. There was no waste, and I put my arm out, and he grabbed on. We started a good jog towards the bus and made it just in time. We paid and found our seats, and we sat together. We began conversing. I introduced myself, and he responded with his name, and to this day, I still can not remember it. I had plenty of questions about 10 blocks to do in. I discovered he was, of course, a Buddhist monk from Hong Kong. His mother was Chinese, and his father was an American. His parents thought it would be better for him because of his blindness. The monk was heading to a Goodwill store on Broadway, where he was joining a protest to show his dislike of the CEO of Goodwill, who was the CEO for the a non profit for the blind. This CEO was hiring the disabled to do his labor for very little an hour, all so the workers didn’t lose their benefits. He was exploiting the disabled. Has the ride went on, and we discussed major problems that our world was experiencing. Even though I can not remember his name, meeting him was unforgettable.
