A line from a 1980s television program called “A team.” The basic idea of the show is a group of ex military soldiers who had been excused from their service for not complying. The group came together in civilian life and took their skills, and used them to help people fight against formidable odds. The group would come up with ideas to stop the bad guys, but like Scooby Doo and the gang, their plans didn’t always come to fruition as they would have liked. On the program, they are always ending up capturing the bad guy. For the last few months, I have been planning a trip to see my family. 5 years is a long time from your loved ones. My son Joshua and I were very close. He needed to be the man he had grown into. The plan was to spend some good personal time together. 3 nights was what I had planned for. 4-5 hours is what I was able to actually just be around him and conversed a bit. The feeling I got when I was able to hug him was worth just those few hours, which was the hope for, through the plan. Next time, it will be “better.”
