A story. I was at a boat dock on one of the great lakes in America. The area was remote with a very small town just up the way. The weather is sunny and warm. There were just a couple of cars parked in the small dirt lot next to the dock itself. I was on the water in a canoe with my son. We had just paddled from a few miles up the shore where a boat landing is. We decided to tie off to the small dock made out of old, unpainted wood. We tied the boat off at the end of the dock. We just wanted to throw some lines out for some fishing. The area of the shoreline was supposed to be some good fishing. When we had pulled up to the dock, there were several boys on the shore fishing. Some of the younger ones were preparing some small nets to throw out. There were more than 10 boys, ranging from 9, maybe 10 to 16, or 17, maybe. An hour went by. Our fishing wasn't bad. Still, the boys on the shore were not doing so well. They had only 2 keepers at the moment. My son and I had caught 5 nice bass within a half hour. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I noticed a strange-looking man. He was coming out of a wooded area from the other side of parked cars. The man's clothing was some old tan baggy cargo pants barely on his body. No shirt and no shoes. The no shirt and no shoes was not unusual for this area and time of year. The man walked toward the boys fishing on the bank. At first, I did not pay much attention to the man. It seemed he was related to them. I heard one of the boys say from over on the bank, " Who are you mister?" After I heard that, I started to listen more closely to the conversation between the boy and the man. The man was not a loud voicestres so it was hard to hear what he was saying. I motioned to my son to be quiet so I could hear what he was saying to these young boys. The man smiled and walked along the shoreline. He approached each boy and even touched one of them on the shoulder. He looked at him while smiling at the young boy. " I can teach you to fish." I heard him say. " It will not be for fish but for men."

18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him. King James Bible, Matthew, 4; 18-20

The is not factual, but used as an analogy. In this day, it would be clear that the man sounded and acted as a predator. There are several biblical verses that can seem questionable. When put into current ideas and behavior, it raises the question of whether Jesus has been just that. Here are some of those examples.

25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. KJV Bible, Luke: 19; 25-27

That verse reads as 2 men who were married.

51 Now a certain young man followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body. And the young men laid hold of him, 52 and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked. KJV Bible, Mark: 14; 51-52

The context was that Jesus was with the young boys called apostles. They were in a public garden at 4 am. They were hanging in the tombs with another young boy or man who was almost naked.

There are things in this world used to control the masses. They do so through a fairy tale of a man with God-given power, yet incapable of saving himself. What father would murder his only begotten son to prove a point?

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
